ATM Technology and Its Applications
Abstract:
ATM has evolved as a networking technology for the broadband
integrated service network for the transport of computer data,
imaging, video and audio. With the completion of several ATM
Forum Functional Specifications recently, ATM gets into a new
phase of development and further deployment. This presentation
provides a tutorial on the key elements of ATM technology, such
as Traffic Management, PNNI Routing, and Signaling. We explain
the fundamentals of ATM networking and how the features, like
Quality of Service, are supported by different elements of ATM
technology. The current status of ATM Forum specifications will
also be discussed.
