NECINA is pleased to host a special half a day industry wide technical 
conference at Chelmsford Radisson Hotel on Saturday, October 18, 1997.
The conference will be open to all NECINA members free of charge and 
for non-NECINA members at $15 per seat.  A reception will be provided at 
the end of the conference for speakers, NECINA officials and attendees.

Conference Theme:

The conference will feature 4 distinguished speakers in the data communication 
and networking industries on the general subject of "Evolution of the 
Internet Infrastructure".   Each speaker will share his vision and insight 
on how the Internet infrastructure will evolve in the coming years as the 
Internet continues to explode in size and new services are enabled daily.  
These presentations will assess the impact of emerging technologies such as 
Internet Policy Management, Gigabit Ethernet, Gigabit Routers and 
Content-Smart Internet to the exist infrastructure.  These discussions are 
to propose high-level technology roadmaps for the future and to inspire 
others in the making of next generation networks.

right and proceed under overpass.  The Radisson entrance will be on the

From the South: (Providence, RI)
Take Exit #34 at Interstate 495 N. At the end of the exit, proceed left. The

About the Speakers

Known as the visionary co-founder for the success of Cascade Communications in 
frame relay and ATM, Desh Despande will share his vision on the evolution 
of the Internet as a connection oriented public infrastructure and the role of 
IP, frame relay and ATM in that paradigm.

John Shaw is VP of Marketing at Netcore Systems. Before joining Netcore 
Systems, John held executive positions at Newbridge Networks and was an 
active member of Frame Relay and ATM forums.  John will share his view of 
how the Internet policy management will evolve with next generation high 
performance, high capacity switching technologies based on ATM and IP.  

Steve Willis is co-founder and CTO of Gigapacket. Before starting Gigapacket, 
Steve held numerous positions at Wellfleet/Bay Networks including being the 
founding Director of Software for Wellfleet in its early years.  Steve was 
instrumental in the creation of the routed Internet. He will share his 
vision on how the Internet will continue to evolve and the impact of high 
performance technologies.

Menacham Abraham is founder and CEO of Prominet Communications. Before starting 
Prominet, Menacham was the co-founder of Chipcom and was instrumental in 
its leadership as an intelligent hub vendor before it was acquired by 3Com. 
As a veteran on LAN and hub technologies, Menacham will share his view on 
high speed LAN switching and QoS.

Cheng Wu is founder and CEO of ArrowPoint Communications. Before starting 
ArrowPoint, Cheng was co-founder and VP of Engineering for Arris Networks 
which was acquired by Cascade Communications.  Cheng will share the trends 
in Active Networks or Content-Smart Internet.

Reception

After the presentations, a reception will be held in the Middlesex Room at 
Radisson Heritage Hotel in the same area.  This will be offered to all 
attendees free of charge.  It provides all attendees to exchange their 
views and to meet with speakers.
